Over 25,000 comic books stolen from collection just weeks before San Diego Comic Con
A son has shared his heartbreak online after his father's entire comic book collection was stolen - everything was taken, including signed comics from Stan Lee
A heartbreaking appeal has been posted online by a son whose father's entire comic book collection was stolen before San Diego Comic Con.
In a Reddit post, the user detailed how their father, a decades-long collector of comic books, had his cherished items pilfered from a storage unit where they were kept.
The post started with, "My dad has been collecting comic books for 40+ years. Yesterday he went to the storage unit he housed them in and found that someone had stolen the entire collection."

- Simple hack to keep bananas fresher for longer with cheap kitchen staple
The Reddit user then listed everything that was taken, which included thousands of comic books.
"We're talking 25,000+ comics. Along with action figures, multiple signed comics from Stan Lee and the like, and a signed sketch of me as a little kid as Green Lantern by George Perez," the post read, as per the Mirror US.
"My dad is just distraught over this because this has been his lifelong passion. There were comics in there that he bought in the 70s as a kid. It's not just the monetary value, but that his whole childhood into adulthood has been stolen."
The individual then wrote, "I just don't know where to turn or what to do. Other than scouring eBay, Craigslist, and Facebook Marketplace I don't know what else to do.
"He went to the police today and had a detective assigned to the case, and all we can do is hope that they take it seriously. If this has happened to anyone else, what did you do and did you end up finding any of the stolen comics? Please help. I'm so sick over this."
Numerous Reddit users chimed in on a forum thread, with one user advising, "That sucks. It would help if you have documentation-lists, pictures, notes, etc. Definitely provide all you can to the detective. I also suggest contacting local comic stores and pawn shops in case the thief/thieves try to sell them there."
Another user added their thoughts, saying, "Any idea when it happened? If it was recent, contact every local comic shop. Post in every big comic Facebook group. Monitor Craigslist, OfferUp and any other local app for selling stuff. You might get lucky and catch the s- -tbags."
A third contributor shared their own experience: "Man, same thing happened to me. Alert local shops to be on the look out for people selling collections."
