President Donald Trump admitted to using an autopen days after attacking former president Joe Biden of doing the same to issue a series of pardons.

On Monday, Trump declared that every pardon issued by his predecessor is invalid because, he said, they were ratified by an autopen without the then-president's knowledge—an allegation Biden has denied. During his tenure, Biden issued pardons to the Select Committee investigating the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, his own son Hunter, and about 2,500 non-violent drug offenders.

However, the president admitted to NBC news that he has used a autopen himself, claiming to reserve it for "unimportant" documents and letters. Employing the use of an autopen is typical of sitting American presidents as they have mountains of paperwork to sift through. It comes as Fox News fans declare it's the 'end of MAGA' as Donald Trump loses it in press conference.

Nevertheless, President Trump maintained that his use of the tool is far different from his predecessor's. "What [the Biden administration] used them for is terrible," he told a reporter.

Null and Void

Trump's attacks targeted both Biden and former president Barack Obama, saying both used an autopen to sign official documents, which is considered poor practice according to guidance provided from the Office of Legal Counsel at the Justice Department in 2005.

Therefore, Trump declared on his social media platform Truth Social that Biden's pardons are null and void.

"The 'pardons' that Sleepy Joe Biden gave to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, and many others, are hereby declared VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT, because of the fact that they were done by Autopen," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

"In other words, Joe Biden did not sign them but, more importantly, he did not know anything about them."

Republican-fueled conspiracy

The 46th US President rebutted Sunday in an interview with The New York Times, saying he “made every single one of those clemency decisions”

Biden did not deny using an autopen on multiple occasions. When asked why he utilized the tool to sign pardons, he responded: “Because there were a lot of them.”

Republican lawmakers have dubbed the revelation a "constitutional scandal" and called for the investigation of thousands of documents signed by Biden during his tenure.
