A Ukrainian drone strike overnight reportedly targeted a missile battery factory in Russia’s Lipetsk region, igniting a fire and triggering explosions that were felt across multiple districts, according to Russian and Ukrainian media reports.

Russian Telegram channels said the attack hit the Energia plant in the city of Yelets, which manufactures batteries for aerial bombs and missiles used by the Russian military.

The strike sparked a fire near the facility, with thick smoke visible from the site, local reports said. It comes as Russia warns of nuclear Armageddon after Trump's latest Ukraine move.

Two explosions were heard around 4 a.m. in Yelets, about 250 miles south of Moscow, as air defense systems responded to incoming drones, according to Russian state and local media.

The Kyiv Post reported that residents across several districts said they felt shockwaves and heard loud blasts. No casualties or official confirmation from the Russian Defense Ministry had been issued as of Tuesday morning.

A “drone attack alert” was declared, but no further information was provided regarding the damage caused by the attack.

The telegram reported that the strike in Yelets hit the battle factory Energia, which designs and manufactures self-contained power systems for various uses, from residential and industrial to specialized applications.

According to the Kyiv Post, the facility holds radio equipment, river and sea vessels, household electronics, toys and games, medical devices, and more.

Russian media outlets have previously praised the company for consistently leading in the design and manufacture of chemical power sources and other non-core products for both domestic and international markets.

The plant was targeted by Ukrainian drones in the past, on May 23 and July 3, the Kyiv Post reported.

The first strike caused a fire at the facility, and operations were reportedly suspended indefinitely after the second strike.

Donald Trump took to Truth Social to say that unless Russia shows any signs of making peace soon, America will be implementing new economic sanctions against Russia.

“We’re going to be doing very severe tariffs if we don’t have a deal in 50 days,” Trump said.

“Tariffs at about 100%, you’d call them secondary tariffs. You know what that means.”
