Film enthusiasts are raving about a decade-old Clint Eastwood-directed film, American Sniper, now available on Netflix. The movie tells the true story of US Navy SEAL Sniper Chris Kyle, portrayed by Bradley Cooper, who gained 40lbs for the role.

Kyle holds the record as the deadliest sniper in U.S. military history, with 255 kills from four tours in the Iraq War, 160 of which were officially confirmed by the Department of Defense. However, his years of service in Iraq took a toll on him.

Upon returning home to his wife and son, he developed PTSD, which strained his relationships even as he was lauded for his military achievements.

The film was initially released it in November 2014, awarding it four out of five stars and describing it as: "A typically thoughtful, unflashy Clint Eastwood production." It went on to rank as the 13th highest-grossing film of the year worldwide.

It received six Oscar nominations, including best actor for Cooper. Viewers have been profoundly moved by the film, praising it in their reviews as "moving" and a "triumph," reports the Express.

"American Sniper is an absolute cinematic triumph, a monumental achievement in storytelling and a profoundly moving experience. From the very first frame, director Clint Eastwood masterfully immerses the viewer in the intense and harrowing reality faced by Navy SEAL Chris Kyle. Bradley Cooper delivers a career-defining performance, embodying Kyle with a raw intensity and nuanced vulnerability that is nothing short of breathtaking....It's a must-see film that will resonate deeply with audiences for generations to come," one critic raves.

"Clint Eastwood is a wonderful director as well as actor. American Sniper is one of the most thrilling and amazing movies...This film's direction is on next level and the cinematography is amazing. It deals with mental conditions like PTSD which often happens to Veterans...This movie deserves 10/10," another enthuses.

Another critic added, "American Sniper totally deserved the Oscar win and multiple nominations in 2015. Bradley's acting during the crucial parts of this film is outstanding. The action scenes are all so well designed...The audience is made to realise the dark impact the war's bloodshed has on Chris' soul and how it slowly changes his personality, subconsciously...We're put to a very deep personal conflict- 'honor and glory' vs 'family and simplicity in life'. And the film's ending scenes answer this strong dilemma in a justified way. I would absolutely recommend this film to everyone.

"One of the most beautiful and moving films I've ever seen," one viewer wrote. "Chris Kyle is an all American hero and one of the greatest men who ever lived.

"At first I didn't think it was going to be a good movie but I watched it AND IT WAS AWESOME. The movie showed what the men and had to go through over there and it broke my heart to really see the effect it had on them...Clint Eastwood did an awesome awesome job. If I could give the movie a ten star I would."

Another expressed, "I enjoy watching war movies, especially the ones based on true stories. This particular film is directed by one of my favorite actors and directors: Clint Eastwood. He dies an excellent job putting us in the film with an outstanding and commendable war veteran suffering with the common disorder, PTSD. The detailed events displayed after Chris Kyle returns home and the effects his behavior has on his family is outstanding. I don't think another director could have 'grabbed' us better with the gripping details of his tour and his life."
