Major car rental company closes multiple locations unexpectedly
Advantage Car Rental's flagship Orlando Airport location was closed on July 11, along with the Las Vegas and Denver locations, last week
A major American car rental company has potentially closed several locations around the country as it continues to struggle to recover from its three previous bankruptcies in the last decade.
According to a report from View From The Wing, Advantage Car Rental's flagship Orlando Airport location was closed on July 11, along with the Las Vegas and Denver locations, last week. The company has not made an official statement saying these locations have been permanently closed.
According to the report, court records show no filing of another bankrupcy in recent week, but if that were the case it would be the company's fourth in the last 10 years. It came as a luxury car manufacturer revealed a huge drop in US sales following Trump's tariffs.
"No WARN Act notices or Florida or Delaware dissolution filings have appeared for 'Orlando Rentco LLC,' 'Advantage Opco LLC,' or related entities, though databases aren’t going to show the past several days of filings," the report from View From the Wing stated.
Recent reviews of the Orlando location suggest that the Zezgo employees are honoring — or in some cases refusing — Advantage reservations at the same address, according to the report.
The company's 2020 Chapter 11 bankruptcy left the estate in a liquidating trust, and Orlando Rentco has been running a much smaller business under the Advantage trademark.

It should be noted that the company's franchise locations are separate legal entities. According to the report, the Atlanta, Houston, and San Juan locations continue to operate. Customers can still access the Advantage website and book rental cars, but the Orlando locations do not show cars available, according to the report.
