Nearly 70% of Trump supporters disagree with Epstein files decision

An exclusive poll shows that the majority of Americans are questioning why Trump has not released the Epstein files, especially his own MAGA supporters

American voters, particularly those among Donald Trump's MAGA base, are expressing outrage over the president's apparent refusal to release the alleged Epstein files, as indicated by a recent poll.

This turn of events follows the Trump administration assuring its backers that there isn't any such Epstein list, despite prior campaign promises to unveil all parties involved.

Interestingly, the group most upset about the president's sudden reversal is his own supporters, according to a new poll from the Democracy Institute. Approximately 67% of MAGA supporters who voted for Trump last November disagree with his decision not to release the client list, compared to 58% of Kamala Harris voters who disagree.

First time voters in 2024 appear to be the most displeased with Trump's decision, with a staggering 71% of them disagreeing with Trump's choice. For all Americans, that figure slightly decreases to 63%, which still represents the majority, according to the poll, reports, themirror.com.

The incumbent's recent actions have been negatively affecting his approval rating, a clear sign that Trump supporters may have found a reason not to rally behind their controversial leader. Current data indicates that 50% of Americans disapprove of the job that President Trump is doing.

Following the release of an unsigned memo last week by the Justice Department and the FBI, which claims there is no supposed Epstein client list, controversy has erupted despite Attorney General Pam Bondi's assertion in February that the list was "on her desk."

The DOJ's stance has created a schism among Trump's supporters, as the Epstein case was seen as a pivotal reason for their allegiance to Trump. FBI Director Kash Patel and his deputy Dan Bongino, before assuming their roles, had consistently spoken about the existence of the list and alleged efforts by the so-called "deep state" to conceal it.

They also consistently argued against the official ruling that Epstein died by suicide. The DOJ memo confirmed that Epstein did indeed die by suicide while detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York City in 2019.

Over the weekend, the president took to social media to voice his discontent with the division among staunch supporters of his "Make America Great Again" movement regarding this issue, while showing support for Bondi. Notably absent from his extensive post was any reference to Bongino.

Trump lamented on social media, "What's going on with my 'boys' and, in some cases, 'gals?'" He continued, "They're all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We're on one Team, MAGA, and I don't like what's happening."

Nonetheless, following a comprehensive review of the evidence held by the government that spanned several months, the Justice Department concluded in Monday's memo that no "further disclosure would be appropriate or warranted."

The department highlighted that a significant portion of the material was sealed by a court to safeguard victims, and only a small part of it "would have been aired publicly had Epstein gone to trial."
