Netflix's surprise blockbuster of 2025 is still smashing records a whopping four months after hitting the platform.

Excitement jolted through Hollywood as the full slate of Primetime Emmy Award nominations was revealed this past Tuesday (15th July). The glittering night of television in September will see juggernauts such as Severance, The Last of Us, and The Bear duke it out for top awards.

In an unparalleled achievement, Owen Cooper of Adolescence earned the title of youngest-ever nominee in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series category, eclipsing a decades-old record set by 16-year-old Scott Jacoby for his 1972 performance in That Certain Summer.

Cooper's riveting portrayal of Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old boy entangled in a murder suspicion, has earned critical acclaim from the Express for the Netflix hit.

Stephen Graham applauded his co-star on The One Show, dubbing Cooper a "rare talent" akin to acting great Robert De Niro. Not only did Graham earn a nomination for Best Lead Actor in a Limited Series, but he also garnered praise for co-writing the celebrated series with Jack Thorne.

Fellow actor Ashley Walters was honored in the supporting actor sphere for his role as DI Luke Bascombe in the show. In an interview with Deadline, a stunned Cooper described receiving one of his premier awards nods as "it's crazy."

"It's been the best year of my life," he continued. "Now it's over a little bit, I'm going back to a bit of normality. School has been perfectly fine."

With Hollywood's attention now firmly on him, Cooper is set to star with Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie in the upcoming Wuthering Heights adaptation directed by Saltburn's Emerald Fennell.

Cooper revealed during the shoot that Adolescence was creating such a buzz on Netflix that his co-stars couldn't help but take notice.

"They were all saying how big the show's gone," he said with a smile.

"And they were sick of seeing me on TV and stuff. That's what Jacob said. Margot said that she was dying to watch it."

Adolescence has been universally acclaimed as a "masterpiece" by both audiences and critics, marking it as a must-see if you haven't yet checked out this cinematic treasure.
